The Dinner Party
The Dinner Party, an important icon of 1970s feminist art.
It represents a ceremonial banquet on a triangular table with thirty-nine settings each one commemorating a woman from history. Each setting consists in a work of embroidered, porcelain plates with motifs based on vulvar and butterfly forms in the style of the women being honored. The names of another 999 women are inscribed in gold on the white tile floor below the triangular table.
